Electrician

General Responsibilities:
This position maintains electrical equipment on diesel/electric locomotives, self-propelled coaches and passenger railcars including propulsion systems, electronic controls, lighting, generators, battery charging systems, CAB signal systems, heating & air condition systems, and industrial wiring.
Responsible for the safety objectives, goals and program of the organization, ensuring compliance with applicable safety rules and regulations. Promotes safe work practices as well as maintains and fosters a safe work environment.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
The selected candidate will be a Journeyman Electrician or possess a minimum of four years of experience working on similar equipment.
Must be able to read schematic drawings.
Must be available to work all shifts and work at various locations in the six county metropolitan area.
Other Important Information:
May be subject to random drug and alcohol testing. A background check will be conducted regarding drug and alcohol testing history on candidates who have worked for agencies subject to DOT regulations.

Supervisor, Electrical Maintenance
Summary of Duties: Reporting directly to the Director, Electrical Maintenance, supervises, coordinates, and controls the daily activities of all Unit Substation Maintenance Electricians on the Rock Island, Milwaukee North and Milwaukee West Lines. Creates and maintains reports, records, logs, and computer generated maintenance management programs for monitoring medium voltage switchgear, motor control centers, stand by power units, battery systems, generators, and other related electrical apparatus. Prepares labor and material estimates for capital project and maintenance activities. Orders material and maintains departmental inventory records. Directs the dispatching of crews and equipment to handle electrical related problems. Available to work flexible hours, as required, in the early morning, late afternoon, evenings, or weekends. Performs other related duties as needed to meet the on-going needs of the organization.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications: Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering OR in lieu of degree, must have sixty (60) academic credit hours with major courses consisting of an Electrical Engineering curriculum and two (2) years of relevant railroad engineering experience. In addition to #1, must have substantive electrical experience that includes medium voltage switchgear and protective relaying schemes. Must have a minimum of three (3) years experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems. Supervisory experience is required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suites and Fox Pro. Must have good oral and written communication skills. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Senior Project Administrator
Summary of Duties:
Reporting directly to the Manager, Grant Administration, coordinates and performs the daily administration of capital projects. Handles all related functions associated with Metra's railroad districts and contract railroads as they relate to capital project administration and monitoring. Reviews, approves and monitors all activities related to capital obligations. Analyzes all force account activities. Updates force account plan, protective insurance expenditures and concurrence status report on capital activities. Responsible for the day-to-day administrative duties. Prepares and updates monthly Project Status Sheet and chairs monthly project status meetings. Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree OR in lieu of degree one (1) year of substantive experience in financial and/or railroad project administration may be substituted for each year of lacking relevant college-related course work up to four (4) years.
In addition to #1, minimum four (4) years of financial and/or capital project administration experience required. Project management experience is preferred.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suites.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and analytical skills.

Signal Supervisor
Summary of Duties:
Reporting directly to the Director, Rock Island Engineering, responsible for the oversight of signal maintenance projects. Supervises all field employees responsible for the proper operation of signal apparatus. Inspects on a periodic basis all signal apparatus for safe operation and compliance with Metra standard plans and practices, Federal Railroad Administration Safety Standards and other accepted professional standards. Ensures timely handling of FRA test reports and Hours of Service documents. Evaluates and monitors the necessity of work through inspections. Supervises field employees, providing leadership and instruction. Reviews and handles all signal union issues on the district. Available to work flexible hours, as required, in the early morning, late afternoon, evenings, or weekends. Performs other related duties as needed to meet the on-going needs of the organization.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
Must possess a Bachelor's Degree or in lieu of degree, one year of railroad signal experience may be substituted for each year of lacking relevant college-related course work up to four (4) years. In addition to #1, substantive railroad signal experience, which includes three (3) years of signal circuit troubleshooting or design of circuit modifications. Special courses or training in mathematics, introductory electricity and electronics, digital electronics, and microprocessors is required. Supervisory experience is required . Must have good oral and written communication skills.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Programmer Analyst
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor=s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems OR in lieu of a degree one (1) year of substantive experience in programming languages may be substituted for each year lacking relevant college-related course work up to four (4) years.
Must have significant knowledge in a variety of programming languages, web development tools and relational data base design.

Manager, Financial Reporting
Summary of Duties:
Reporting directly to the Director, Accounting and Financial Systems, responsible for the preparation of the monthly and annual financial statements and ensures the integrity of the transactions in the General Ledger system. Prepares the annual financial schedules for the annual NTD report. Prepares and coordinates external auditor's requests. Supervises contract employees. Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. A CPA is a plus.
In addition to #1, substantive experience in public accounting or in an accounting department with mainframe or ERP based financial systems, which includes one (1) year of experience with financial statement preparation. Familiarity with governmental reporting requirements. Must have working knowledge of the Oracle General Ledger module and reporting tools used in the Oracle Financial Suite.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, with particular emphasis in Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Excellent analytical, oral and written communications skills are essential.
Supervisory experience a plus.
