Quick Fact: Kilmeade asks if warming is a "farce" and says scientists "fudging the numbers"
On the December 7 edition of Fox and Friends, Brian Kilmeade asked guest Ronald Bailey regarding the emails stolen from the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia (CRU) "does it show that this is a farce?" and later claimed that scientists "use trickery, fudging the data, massaging the stats, it's hard to take it seriously."

Fox's MacCallum falsely claims no Senate Democrats willing to enroll in public option themselves
Martha MacCallum falsely claimed that no Democratic senators "wanted to give up" their current health insurance "to join on to a public option." In fact, Democratic Sens. Sherrod Brown, Christopher Dodd, Russ Feingold, Al Franken, and Barbara Mikulski have co-sponsored an amendment to mandate congressional members to enroll in the public option, should it pass -- with Democratic co-sponsors now outnumbering Republican co-sponsors of the amendment. Quick Fact: Fox's Varney claimed stimulus spending is "not very successful"
Stuart Varney claimed on America's Newsroom that money from the economic recovery act has been spent "not very successfully, according to many analysts," in order to attack any proposal to "spend more stimulus-type money." But the Congressional Budget Office estimated that stimulus spending through September had saved or created as many as 1.6 million jobs and added as much as 3.2 percent to U.S.gross domestic product. Fox News falsely suggests Senate bill "allows funding for abortion" inconsistent with Hyde Amendment
During a discussion of Sen. Ben Nelson's (D-NE) proposed amendment to the Senate health care reform bill, Fox News on-screen text falsely suggested that the "current bill allows funding for abortion" beyond what is currently allowed under the Hyde Amendment, which forbids the use of federal funds for abortions except in cases of life endangerment, rape or incest. In fact, the Senate bill explicitly prohibits the use of federal funds to provide coverage for abortions that are not allowed under the Hyde Amendment and requires segregation of non-federal funds from federal funds to pay for those procedures -- a practice that is similar to the way that many states cover such abortions under the federally subsidized Medicaid program. Another disclosure problem: Fox lets former senior adviser Pinkerton defend Huckabee commutation without noting ties
During the December 5 edition of Fox News Watch -- Fox News' media criticism show -- contributor James Pinkerton defended Fox News host and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee's role in granting a commutation for Maurice Clemmons, who has been accused of killing four police officers in Lakewood, Washington; Fox News did not disclose that Pinkerton served as a senior adviser to Huckabee's presidential campaign. The lack of disclosure comes after Fox News reportedly admitted a mistake in allowing host Gretchen Carlson to interview athlete Derek Jeter without disclosing that her husband is Jeter's agent. NPR reporter Liasson to continue validating Fox's news programs while ignoring its 24-7 political operation
National Public Radio national political correspondent Mara Liasson has reportedly declined a request by NPR executives that she reconsider appearing regularly on Fox News because of "what they perceived as the network's political bias," according to Politico, which also reported that "Liasson defended her work for Fox by saying that she appears on two of the network's news programs, not on commentary programs with conservative hosts." In fact, the "news programs" on which Liasson appears, Special Report and Fox News Sunday, echo Fox's right-wing opinion shows, often featuring smears, falsehoods, doctored and deceptive editing, and GOP talking points. Fox Nation, Big Government advance smear that Jennings is "linked to shocking sex talk"
Fox Nation and Big Government are trumpeting the latest smear on Department of Education official Kevin Jennings: that Jennings is, in the words of Fox Nation, "linked to shocking teen sex talk," referring to a recorded exchange that occurred during a "Queer Sex and Sexuality" workshop during a 2000 conference sponsored by Jennings' organization, the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN). In fact, Jennings reportedly criticized "some of the" workshop's "content" when the recordings were first released in 2000, and the people involved in conducting the controversial discussion -- none of whom were GLSEN employees -- were either terminated or resigned. Conservatives express outrage over Reid slavery remarks -- yet routinely claim progressives enslaving America
Conservative media figures have attacked Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's (D-NV) remarks linking slavery to Republican opposition to health care reform legislation, but have routinely attacked progressives and the Obama administration for creating "slavery" and enslaving the public. Read More

Did Amanda Knox Receive a Fair Trial?

Did Amanda Knox Receive a Fair Trial?

Would there be a lot of fuss over an African American being guilty? Why isn't there media coverage in African American guilt in our judicial system? There is so much dsyfunction in "our" judicial system with African Americans that I think we should concentrate on the things that are wrong in our own backyard. The problem here is that the person who was convicted was "white."

Fox News repeatedly claims apparently stolen CRU emails were "leaked," "revealed," "uncovered"
Over the past week, Fox News figures have repeatedly asserted that emails from the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia that critics have dubiously claimed undermine the scientific consensus on climate change were "leaked" -- citing no evidence for their claim -- or have described those emails as having been "revealed," "uncovered," or "discovered." In fact, CRU has stated that the emails were stolen from CRU's servers by one or more hackers. Read More

Newsmax.com

December 7, 2009
To Investors:
This is an exciting time to track the developments of Strategic American Oil Corporation (OTCBB:SGCA).
Here's why:
  • Company recently raised $3 million in two oversubscribed tranches with major institutional investors participating.  SGCA is well capitalized to sufficiently pursue oil and gas targets in multiple states including Texas

  • Acquired exclusive database rights with 40 years of oil and gas prospect information which will improve the Company's pipeline for future acquisitions

  • Completed leasing 93% of the 160 acre Dixon Lease located in the Delhi South Field, Louisiana

  • Leased additional acreage in the Illinois Basin where total acres leased to date is approximately 3,472 acres
Experienced and Proven Management Team:
  • Randy Reneau, Chairman, 30 Years Experience as a geologist (domestic and foreign), ex-President of REDCO, Inc. in Texas

  • Jeremy Driver (BSc and MBA) President and CEO, former President of AMEX listed oil/gas subsidiary, served in the US army as an intelligence specialist

  • Steven Carter, VP of Operations, 13 years with T-C Oil in Texas, 30 years of Gulf Coast oil and gas engineering experience

  • Bob Bennett, well known Texas geologist, 22 discoveries in South Texas – all 10 BCF or greater (4 in Kennedy County), in-house proprietary 3-D seismic model identifies overlooked oil and gas fields- best in class historical track record in the state of Texas
SGCA's properties are world class and all within U.S. borders.  All operations within the friendly confines of the U.S. give SGCA unequivocal security of its assets.  Due to low oil prices over the past 10 months, there were acquisition bargains available and the Company took full advantage by aggressively leasing land positions in Illinois, Louisiana, and Texas.

Recent Transaction: SGCA acquired the exclusive rights to an oil and gas database containing approximately 40 years of oil and gas prospect information including well logs and related structure and isopach maps.  This data covers portions of South Texas, including areas where the Company is currently reviewing and leasing 3D seismic prospects.
Recent Transaction: SGCA completed leasing 93% of the mineral interest in the 160 acre Dixon Lease located in the Delhi South Field, Franklin Parish, Louisiana. The balance of the Material Interest (~7%) is expected to be leased shortly. The Dixon lease contains two temporarily abandoned oil wells at approximately 3,400 feet along with two possible offset drilling locations.
Recent Transaction: SGCA leased additional acreage in the Illinois Basin.  The Illinois State Geological Survey (ISGS) has estimated the Illinois Basin has the potential to recover approximately 4 billion barrels of oil. Total acres leased to date, including farmed out leases, is approximately 3,028 acres. These leases cover multiple zone targets, to 4,000 feet, as well as a potential waterflood prospect and pinnacle reef prospects.
Outlook for Oil and Gas:
  • Oil prices have seen a strong rebound from the recent lows of $35 to $78/barrel

  • Top analysts, including Goldman Sachs analyst Jeffrey Currie, have forecasted that oil will hit $85/barrel by year end

  • SGCA aims to capitalize on this price by leasing, drilling, and acquiring projects at various stages of development
With oil rebounding, key leases tied up in attractive states, and $3mm in the Company's treasury, SGCA will enter 2010 with all the pieces in place to move forward with its ambitious growth plans. We appreciate your interest in Strategic American Oil Corporation.

Historic Opportunity To Explicitly Include Substance Abuse Prevention in Healthcare Reform

December 3, 2009

Background

The substance abuse prevention field has a historic opportunity to weigh in with Congress to help ensure our field is eligible to compete for billions of dollars from the funds contained in the healthcare reform bills currently being debated.

Both the House and Senate versions of healthcare reform contain several funds, which authorize billions of dollars for various prevention funding. However, unless the final healthcare reform bill contains language that: 1) explicitly includes substance abuse prevention in the definition of community based prevention; and 2) explicitly includes substance use disorders as part of the definition of chronic disease, condition or illness, our field will not be eligible to compete for these funds.

Members of Congress are currently being bombarded with faxes and phone calls from every other "disease interest" organization. Therefore, if we want to ensure that substance abuse prevention is explicitly included in the final version of healthcare reform, it is critical that the field respond to this alert en masse.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

Fax the members of your congressional delegation.

TIMING

The Senate is currently debating its version of healthcare reform on the Senate Floor. After the Senate passes its version, the next step will be for the House and Senate to conference their respective versions of the legislation. Please fax your members of Congress immediately to ask them to explicitly include substance abuse prevention in the definition of community based prevention, and substance use disorder in the definition of chronic disease, condition or illness.

CADCA's fax system allows you to automatically fax CADCA's sample letter on this issue to your legislators from its website. To send faxes to your legislators, go to http://capwiz.com/cadca/home/.

If you would like to personalize your letter with examples from your state/community, please email dkurosky@cadca.org for a MS Word version of the sample letter.
