Arianna Huffington: Third World America: Chronicling the Assault on America's Middle Class...and the Solutions

2010-08-10-THIRDWORLDAMERICA.jpg

Arianna Huffington: From foreclosures to unemployment to household debt to bankruptcies, the American middle class is under assault -- and America is in danger of becoming a Third World nation. That's why, in conjunction with the publication of my upcoming book, Third World America, HuffPost is launching a "Third World America" section to bear witness to what is happening to the American middle class in small towns and big cities all across the country. Every day, we will also focus on the solutions that are making a difference in the lives of ordinary Americans, and offer many ways for you to get involved -- things we can all do to make sure we never find ourselves living in Third World America. Start by watching this video, taking our Pledge for the American Dream, and sharing your story. Click here to read more.

International Opportunities at MED Week 2010!

International Opportunities at MED Week 2010!

Scheduled for August 23 - 27, 2010 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC, the 2010 National Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week Conference will provide a comprehensive platform for Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) to expand into global markets. With demand for American products and services on the rise and minority firms twice as likely to export compared to non-minority firms, this Conference is designed to equip you with the tools and resources you need to grow in a global economy.

Among the full array of workshops and sessions geared towards explaining the complexities of international trade, the event sponsor, the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) is pleased to co-host a reception with the South African Embassy on Tuesday, August 24th, from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. This event will be a great opportunity to meet potential African trading partners in the informal atmosphere of an evening reception. Both, the MBDA National Director, David Hinson, and the South African Ambassador, Ebrahim Rasool, are scheduled to speak.

MED Week will kick-off with a Mentor-Protege Program hosted by SBA on Monday, and culminate on Friday with the signature MED Week Awards Gala, where the Nation's most successful MBE firms will be recognized for their contributions to the national economy and their community.

Click here to be taken to the conference web site.

Space at the conference is limited so click here to register for MED Week, one of the most important conferences you'll attend this year!
