Cook County Republicans speak out about the politics in Illinois

The last 30 days have been a tumultuous time for Cook County and Illinois. Our governor has brought national embarrassment, and his failure to resign and his defiance towards the will of the people has taken its toll on both our government and our faith in the process.

Blagojevich's antics and continued defiance has created opportunity for Republicans. While Illinois Democrats have distanced themselves from the governor, their records of support for him through the years cannot be hidden. This is especially true in Cook County, where Blagojevich cut his teeth and was promoted through the Democrat Machine.

2010 will be a critical year for Republicans in Cook County. Citizens of Cook County will have a clear choice in many state and countywide offices: continue to support the bloated, over-taxing, inefficient and ethically challenged incumbent Democrats who have spent the last 6 years supporting Governor Blagojevich, or vote for reform minded Republicans.

Stay tuned to the Cook County Republican Party website and email alerts to get the latest news on our efforts and candidates here in Cook County. I hope you'll find the time to get involved with your local organization as we approach the 2010 election cycle.

Time for Stroger to Move on
Kristin McQuearey, Southtown Star
1/8/09

I 'm too exhausted to build my case first. So I'll cut to the chase: Cook County Board President Todd Stroger has to go.

After a 90-minute interview with the SouthtownStar editorial board Wednesday, Stroger left me unconvinced he has corrected the legacy of inefficiencies in Cook County government that existed when he took the job, nor is he equipped to fix them going forward.

From a culture of patronage - perceived or real - to the organizational and leadership skills needed to perform effectively as county CEO, Stroger falls short....read more...
