Dear Fred,
Our good friends at IADDA have just informed me that they have learned the Illinois house has scheduled a session for THIS Monday, May 24, 2010 beginning at 4:00 pm. It has also been reported that the Senate will re-convene on Wednesday May 26 (See quick links for a copy of Senate President Cullerton) According to IADDA's lobbyist "it appears there is a group of legislators that are developing recommendations for additional budget cuts. And that there is still no uniform agreement on the budget, the potential for additional budget cuts is increasing" As the May 31st deadline approaches the pressure to balance the budget by deeper budget cuts will also grow.
MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD TODAY-WE MUST ACT NOW
Contact your representative and senator-tell them no more cuts to addiction treatment!
Why? Tell them that treatment works-it saves money not cost money, -without treatment healthcare services will cost the state more money
If addiction has directly affected your life-tell them your story
Tell them we have already had our funding reduced the past two years
But most of all you cannot tell them your opinion if you do not call them or better yet visit their office!
Don't know how to contact your representative or senator-use the quick like to find them.
Thank you in advanced for your efforts, we will continue to keep you informed!
Sincerely,
Bill Johnson
