Black boys in Milwaukee need our help | Gary L. Williams saves young Black males in Milwaukee | By James E. Causey Tuesday, May 1, 2012 A million kids drop out of school every year. A majority of these kids are minorities and boys, and many never go back to school. Wisconsin has a 50% high school dropout rate for black boys and has one of the nation's highest black male incarceration rates. Williams, 62, said his next mission is to call on the black mega churches to get involved. These churches offer a large pool of black families with the skill sets to address the problems of black youths. They have men who can serve as mentors to these kids, and they also can provide the connections many of the youths need to get their lives on track. |
