Dear Fred, Last night the Senate passed SB 2455outlining its version of spending for addiction services for FY 2013 (July 1, 2012-June 31 2013). Details of funding details and comparisons can be found in the chart below. Caution should be used when considering the numbers. The passage was controversial in that it was strictly a partisan vote (34-23). The issues of 2.7 Billion in Medicaid cuts has not yet be addressed by either the Senate or House, which may eventually lower the amounts in this budget bill. Finally the House, as it did last year appears to be working on lower numbers. It is also important to remember that the budget must be set by midnight May 31st or a super majority of both houses will be required to pass a budget bill. In the next week, the House must pass it's budget bills and then the two Houses must agree to a single version and the Governor must sign it. As was demonstrated last night the deep division between the two parties and two chambers makes the timely passing of the budget questionable.
