Dear Fred, House Amends' Senate Bill 2455 Late yesterday afternoon Rep. Barbara Currie introduced the House Democrats version of funding for the Department of Human Services. (SB 2455 HAM2)))As you may recall in the CORE ALERT from last week, the Senate passed its version of DHS funding. Yesterday in the House version there is no restoration of funding for prevention and a decrease of about $1.8 million reduction in Medicaid funding. Other line items were left the same as in the Senate bill. See our updated chart below for comparisons. There is still time to Contact Your Legislator, especially if your legislator is a member of the House Appropriations Committee. Ask them to save lives and money for Illinois by restoring funding for prevention. CORE is monitoring events in Springfield and will keep you up to date on fast breaking events as they occur in the final days of the spring session.
