Regional Housing Choice Voucher Initiative for Households on Waiting Lists
You have an opportunity between now and April 20th  - for clients you are working with who are ALREADY on the Housing Choice Voucher waiting list on ANY of the following housing authorities – to apply for a number of properties located across metropolitan Chicago.
  • Chicago Housing Authority
  • DuPage Housing Authority
  • Housing Authority of Cook County
  • Joliet Housing Authority
  • Lake County Housing Authority
  • McHenry Housing Authority
  • Oak Park Housing Authority
  • Waukegan Housing Authority
This opportunity is made possible by the federally-funded Chicago Regional Housing Choice Initiative (CRHCI). Per this web article, rental procedures are being updated for a number of properties located across metropolitan Chicago. The goal is to make it easier for households on particular Public Housing Authority (PHA) Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) waiting lists to access quality affordable apartments (with project-based vouchers) as they become available.

One of the projects coming available is a new supportive housing site being developed by South Suburban PADS that serves homeless individuals and families.  If you have clients who meet HUD's definition of homelessness, and are on any of the above PHA HCV waiting lists, then please check their interest in this (or other developments available) and help them submit an application
