"What a crowd," he said. "I'm really impressed. There must be no one left at Wal-Mart this afternoon." Makes you wonder, doesn't it, what Gingrich was willing to say to the majority of Alabamians who didn't support him. When I heard about Gingrich's Wal-Mart crack, my head hurt, and my heart ached. He tends to have that effect on me in general, but this time my grievances were more specific. Now some of its top money-makers seem to agree. Greg Smith, an executive director at the bank, resigned with a blistering editorial that accused the bank of losing its "moral fiber," putting profits ahead of customers' interests, and dismissing customers as "muppets." According to a statement released Thursday by Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid, the United States kept changing the terms of the negotiations. Mujahid says that the Taliban only wanted to discuss prisoner transfers and the establishment of a political office in Qatar, but U.S. negotiators sought to broaden the discussion. Mujahid says they did not want the Afghan government of President Hamid Karzai included in the talks.
