SUPREME ISSUE The Supreme Court opened its hearing on the constitutionality of Barack Obama's signature healthcare law Monday with a brief moment of partisan unity: the Republicans challenging the law and the government lawyers defending it agreed that the high court should rule now, rather than waiting for it to take effect in 2014. The justices seemed to agree, raising the likelihood of a landmark ruling in the thick of the presidential election this June.
