Convicted former governor George Ryan's ailing wife in court for hearing | abc7chicago.com

The wife of former Illinois governor George Ryan appeared in court Thursday as attorneys for her husband requested his early release from prison. Attorneys say Ryan's wife, Lura Lynn, is very ill. They say Mrs. Ryan's condition brings urgency to their request for his release.

Are these people crazy? How many inmates in Illinois prisons or from Illinois convictions have family members die or are laying on their death bed? My wife of 16 years was murdered while I was in prison. The Illinois Department of Corrections refused to let me go to her funeral and visit with my children, one of which found her mother's body laying in the alley with a hole in her head. It is ludicrous for Ryan to believe he should get out of jail because his wife is dying. Ryan, as I, should have thought about the lives we touch when we are involved in matters that may result in prison time.
