The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on Monday stayed Judge Vaughn Walker's ruling in the high-profile constitutional challenge to California's same-sex marriage ban. The appeals court agreed to hear in early December a bid by same-sex marriage opponents to appeal the case in the place of Calif. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Attorney General Jerry Brown, who have declined to file an appeal. But the court hinted in its order that it was skeptical of the opponents' standing to appeal the case.
