We have multiple opportunities for mentors at UCAN, whether they be individual relationships or group sessions. Interested in becoming a mentor? We recommend that a mentor: - Be 21 years or older
- Have strong assessment and communication skills
- Demonstrate good problem-solving skills
- Be able to commit to at least five hours per month
The selection process includes: - Submission of an application
- Consultation with UCAN's mentor/volunteer coordinator,

------------------------------------------------------------ Boys and Girls Club of American Mentor: | | Build and foster a trusting, positive relationship by spending one-on-one time with a member. Provide academic and moral support, encouragement and guidance. Evenings hours available.
| The BGCC/BBBS Mentoring Program involves eleven Club sites and more than 200 mentors and youth. Mentor matches meet once a week at a Club engaged in a variety of activities: -
Talking -
Playing games and sports -
Doing homework -
Creating art projects -
Sharing general life experiences -
Getting involved in team-building activities -
Field trips with other mentor/mentee pairs. Matches receive the support of both the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program Coordinator, who facilitates each mentoring session, and the Boys & Girls Clubs staff, who interact with the children and their families on a regular basis. BGCC Mentoring is funded through the generous contributions of the Regenstein Foundation and Kraft Foods, Inc. Along with individual volunteers, corporations, universities, and other organizations partner with BBBS to provide mentors to CPS students at schools in their neighborhoods and communities. Activities can range from homework help and reading to playing games, talking and listening.

Saturday Mentoring Programs - Building self-esteem to improve the academic performance in all participants. The mentoring program focuses on job preparedness through sequential concepts, which include self-awareness, exploration, and preparation.
