Arianna Huffington: Can-Do Entrepreneurs Move Beyond Our Can't-Do Government

2010-10-13-capt.a0d4d3e7e49c4a9ab1eaabe2c0fe5d3ea0d4d3e7e49c4a9ab1eaabe2c0fe5d3e0.jpg

AP

Arianna Huffington: The latest jobs report is out, and another 95,000 jobs were lost in September. Maybe they should start calling it the no-jobs report. It's clear that the economy won't be bouncing back any time soon. Even clearer is that Washington is not up to the task of creating the conditions for the job growth the country so desperately needs. A deep-seated cynicism is not an unreasonable response. But I'm pleased to report that hundreds of thousands of Americans across the country are choosing to react by taking action. As a result, a parallel economy is being created by people who, finding there are no jobs, have decided to create their own. To turn a spotlight on this nascent movement and encourage its continued growth, HuffPost is launching Small Business America, a new blog where entrepreneurs can exchange ideas, get advice, and keep up with the latest small business news. Click here to read more.

Hilary Rosen: We Are the Right Change

Did everything get done that needed to get done these past two years? Of course not. But it won't get done if the Republicans get put in charge. Then it is back to business as usual for the wrong people.

David Wild: "The Rising" : An Uplifting Playlist for All the Miners in Chile

Robert Kuttner: Obama Calls the Question on Geithner

2010-10-11-obamageithner.jpg

AP

Robert Kuttner: Housing prices are declining again, despite record low mortgage interest rates (available only to blue chip borrowers), which creates a serious drag on the economy. And the housing market won't return to normal until the mortgage mess is resolved. But the belated recognition that millions of mortgages are inadequately documented could be a blessing in disguise. It could force the administration to come up with stronger medicine both to clean up the banks and to help distressed homeowners. Click here to read more.

Mitchell Bard: The Tea Party All-Stars: The Worst of Extreme GOP Midterm Candidates

Robert Creamer: If You Like the Recession, You'd Love "Speaker Boehner"

To escape a period of long-term economic stagnation, we need an major shot of additional stimulus now. But we will never get it -- at least in the near term -- if Republicans take control of one of the houses of Congress.

Robert Reich: Why Democrats Should Not Join in Economic Scapegoating

China bashing doesn't educate the public about what's truly at stake economically and what must be done in the years ahead. Worse: It reinforces the politics of resentment, and further legitimizes other forms of isolationism and xenophobia.

Krystal Ball: The Next Glass Ceiling

Society has to accept that women of my generation have sexual lives that are going to leak into the public sphere. Sooner or later, this is a reality that has to be faced, or many young women in my generation will not be able to run for office.

Ex-CNN host Sanchez: ‘I screwed up and take full responsibility’ | The Upshot Yahoo! News - Yahoo! News

Rick Sanchez: A man of character and integrity.

"I screwed up and take full responsibility," he told ABC's George Stephanopoulos. He repeated that throughout the interview, even referring to himself in the third person: "Rick Sanchez screwed up." Sanchez went further in the interview than he had in a statement released Wednesday in which he apologized and described the comments as "inartful." "Not only were they wrong, they were offensive."
