All travelers flying into the U.S. from foreign countries will receive tightened random screening, and 100 percent of passengers from seven terrorism-prone countries will be patted down and have their carry-ons searched, the Obama administration was notifying airlines on Sunday. The more stringent Transportation Security Administration rules, to take effect at midnight, follow the attempted Christmas Day bombing of a U.S. airliner headed into Detroit from Amsterdam.

The U.S. Embassy in Yemen announced on its website that it was closed Sunday "in response to ongoing threats by Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula ... to attack American interests in Yemen." President Barack Obama had said in his weekly address on Saturday that the plot for the attempted Christmas Day sky bombing unfolded in Yemen, where extremists trained the suspect, "equipped him with those explosives and directed him to attack that plane headed for America." Yemen adjoins Saudi Arabia and is separated from Somalia by the Gulf of Aden.
The British government joined the United States in closing its embassy in Yemen on Sunday, AP reported. Shutting an embassy is a rare and dire step, dramatizing the Arab nation's emergence as one of the world's premier terrorist havens.

Obama Begins New Year With Eye on Intel - NYTimes.com
Obama Begins New Year With Eye on Intel. This incident was a blessing to us in the United States. We get a chance to see what worked, and what did not work. I think we have too mindful of people's "rights" when it comes to the safety of many. Our Congress must become proactive to create Bills that will protect the masses of the United States from terrorism. This includes being proactive with our "federal" judges "legislating" from the bench.

Charges Against Blackwater Guards Dismissed in Iraq Killings - NYTimes.com
"In a significant blow to the Justice Department, a federal judge on Thursday threw out the indictment of five former Blackwater security guards over a shooting in Baghdad in 2007 that left 17 Iraqis dead and about 20 wounded...."
This is outrageous. This is why the world hates us and the legal system in the United States, especially the Muslim world. This federal "judge" made an irrational decision, suggesting the "crime" against humanity is okay. It is irrational to tell people that statements from guards assisted in his ruling to dismiss such a high profile case. This federal "judge" wants his name in the papers, and should get the "notoriety" that comes with it.
Federal judges should not have life-time appointments to our judicial bench. This ruling will bring havoc upon our nation. President Obama, our Congress, and the people of the United States should be outraged at this decision.
